Isabel MillerHOLDERPassed away peacefully on November 2nd 2018 in her 101st year. Lovingly remembered by son, Andrew Holder and daughter, Janice Jackson and their families. Isabel was born in Larne on 19th May 1918. She grew up in the Erdington area and attended King Edward VI Grammar School at its then location in New St., Birmingham. Having to forego a budding singing career because of the war, she became a teacher. She started her career in 1939 at Bloomsbury Girls' School, having to evacuate briefly to Swadlincote. She continued on to Perry Common Boys' School and then, after the birth of her two children, resumed her teaching career successively (and successfully) at Peckham Road School, Summer Lane School, Kings Rise School and, finally, as deputy head of Park Hall Girls School, eventually retiring in 1979. Isabel's interests included her growing family (two children, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren), membership in the City of Birmingham choir, her youth leadership role during the sixties at Sutton Baptist Church and her post-retirement, continuing education activities with the U3A. A private cremation ceremony has already taken place. Most of her family and close friends were able to attend her 100th birthday celebration on a glorious day in May this year. All present will never forget her obvious happiness and contentment with her life that day and the family prefers to keep that day of celebration as a final memory of her presence amongst us.
